Unseen Topographies of broadband

Hong Kong Island’s staircases—stretching from the bottom to the Peak—are more than just infrastructural necessities; they are material archives of colonial power structures. Historically, these stairs demarcated invisible boundaries, ensuring that access to the privileged Peak area remained restricted, symbolising the rigid socio-spatial hierarchies of colonialism. Kachi employed 3D scanning to document staircases, constructing an “unseen map” of these contested pathways.
