Shininho Opening Number is a pre-production workshop and experimental installation developed by Yaloo and her collaborators in summer 2024, marking the first step in embarking on the larger journey of Project Shininho. Combining video, cinematic soundscape, sculpture, text, the work introduces Shin In-Ho—an 86-year-old grandmother reimagined as a K-pop idol and pirate ship captain navigating a speculative Pacific Rim mythology of aging, data, memory, and power.

About the artist: Yaloo
Yaloo (South Korea/ United States) is a visual artist working with moving image installation and speculative worldbuilding, based between Seoul and Los Angeles. Her work gathers fragments from everyday life and circulating culture—texts, artifacts, urban environments, and online imagery—and reconfigures them into immersive, site-responsive installations. Collaborating with musicians, designers, writers, and architects, she works with tools such as 3D scanning, motion capture, and generative AI while drawing from mythology, folklore, and scientific imagination.
